Fox Valley Helping Paws
Animal Welfare
Association, a non-profit
501(C)(3) organization,
was founded in 1971.
Helping Paws is a no-kill
animal shelter for stray
and abandoned dogs and
cats in McHenry County and
surrounding areas. The
animals are provided a
sanctuary where they
receive medical care,
spaying or neutering,
daily care and love, and
the opportunity to be
adopted by a responsible
owner.
Helping Paws was the first
animal welfare
organization established
in McHenry County. Helping
Paws initially provided
foster homes for stray
animals. This was at our
first location, on Rt. 14,
across from Andy's
Restaurant. Newspaper ads
were used to help find
homes for the animals. The
foster care program
continued to grow. In
1995, Helping Paws moved
into it's first facility
on Ridgefield Road. This
building could only hold
cats. In September of
1998, Helping Paws moved
into it's current location
in the old Culligan
building. Our new facility
can now take both cats and
dogs. |
